Why Morningside?

Having stood for the ward in 2007 and lived in the area for much of my adult life, nothing would give me more pleasure than to represent the Morningside area. Similarly, having gone to school and being a resident of a tenement in the ward I am aware of the many challenges our area faces  - the expansion of Air BNB properties, the numbers of absentee landlords, the lack of an efficient factoring system to look after the infrastructure issues of many properties - amongst others.

If I am elected I will work with colleagues to:

  1. Support council plans to have the planning committee oversee any new AIR BNB properties.

  2. With so much time lost to our children's education during the pandemic, I will speak with colleagues in Children and families to see whether a return to a 5 day teaching week is possible.

  3. Request a further report on returning passenger services to the South Suburban Railway Line

  4. Continue to invest in our world leading cultural and sporting infrastructure.

  5. Look at establishing a factoring service for our city's tenement residents

As someone who grew up in Edinburgh and who has a young family in the area the opportunity to represent the ward on the city council is very exciting. With your support I look forward to making this a reality.
